The New Dawn

Oil on canvas, 15 X 30”, 2021

On March 21, 2021, I wrote: “It’s been a long year, but the end is in sight. When I heard that my Mom can try to schedule an appointment for her vaccine starting tomorrow, I felt so hopeful. I can’t wait until the day we can safely visit our friends and family again. Soon.

Amanda Gorman’s Inaugural poem, “The Hill We Climb” spoke to me while I painted today. Her poem may have had a different meaning, but there are universal truths that remind me of this past year. Most importantly, she shared a message of hope, which I hope others will feel as they view my painting.”
