This painting was inspired by my friend Kirsten’s photo, taken while hiking on the Group of Seven Lake Superior Trail. Its smooth lines and colours called to me, and soon it became one of my favourite pieces ever created in my studio.

Transforming daytime into nighttime was both therapeutic and exhilarating — toying with the effects of light allowed me to explore how we connect with darkness; how beautiful the night can be.
